Hairdressers Unlocking Hope: Hurricane Katrina destroyed nearly 275,000 houses and displaced over 1 million residents of the Gulf Coast. Even today, many families still do not have a safe place to call home. Ratner Companies joined Hairdressers Unlocking Hope, a charitable campaign created by beauty industry icon Vidal Sassoon and BehindTheChair.com, a website for salon professionals, to raise money for Habitat for Humanity and its efforts to rebuild homes in the ravaged Gulf Coast. Ratner Companies pledged $85,000 to build one house this fall, then raised money in our salons to build an additional house next spring.
