Fall hair trends

HC’s Artistic Director, Rodney Culter, answered our questions on what hair trends are big this fall. Rodney joins us to discuss fall hair trends fresh off the runway from New York Fashion Week. Get ready for some fall inspo from the guru himself!

When it comes to what’s trending for fall hair cuts, Rodney says, “Fall is an exciting time for lots of strong design in haircutting. We’re seeing disconnection in haircuts, which is the evolution of the pixie in that it’s maintaining short sides in the back while adding longer length on top and front”. Think of shapes reminiscent of Vidal Sasson. Another hot trend that doesn’t call for major change but will totally change your look is bangs. Rodney says, “Bangs are a great way to give you a fresh look without having to cut much off.” If you want a retro or dramatic feel, go for blunt, strong bangs. For a softer feel, try curtain or side-swept bangs.

Fall Hair Color Trends

What an exciting time for hair color, where you can literally get any hair color combination you want. The classic “go darker” for fall is no longer the norm. Why do classic red when you can go Pulp Riot Lava Red, or even mix it with orange and yellow to have the full fall spectrum! But whatever hue is for you, the key to fall color is rich, vibrant color. Talk to your HC Stylist about adding dimension with a balayage or highlight service. Blondes are going Bronde or embrace the Pumpkin Spice look with coppery red tones. Brunettes are bringing dimension with caramels and cool blonde balayage to really customize their color. Check out the HC Lookbook to see a variety of hair color looks done by HC stylists.

Fall Hair Trends- accessories

Since Rodney was fresh off the runways of NYFW, we asked him what trends he saw on the catwalk that could translate to the sidewalk. He replied, “The common thread through the looks was accessorizing with bows, long ribbons, bling barrettes, and bobby pins or anything that captures your attention. It takes a simple style makes it more sophisticated and dramatic.”
